Guest Lecture on "Careers in Media and Communications" by Mr. Asheesh Saini - September 15, 2015

A guest lecture was organized in the Institute on " Careers in Media and Communications ' by Mr. Asheesh  Saini,  Faculty (School of Fashion, Styling & Textiles), Pearl Academy on  September 15 for students of final year. During the lecture Mr. Saini talked about the recent and emerging trends in Fashion Communications with special reference to film making, photography and online media.

He also shared his experiences of fashion industry and showed many videos related to the subject. The lecture was indeed a learning curve for the students as they got to know various aspects of the fashion industry and its scope in the contemporary world.

Celebrations of Hindi Divas 2015 - September 14, 2015

Celebrating the Hindi Divas, a Debate Competition in Hindi was organized at the Institute on
14th September. The topic for the debate was " Angrezi  Bane Boss, Hindi Jhele Garibi ! ". Students from Semesters I, III & V participated and expressed their views on the issue. The panel of judges comprised of  Assistant Professors Ms. Divyani Redhu, Ms. Urvashi Sharma and Ms. Manju Khanna.


Rajeev Jha of first semester was awarded cash prize of  ₹ 1000/- for standing first in the competition. While,  Aakriti Srivastava and Pankaj Rawat of third semester were awarded cash prizes of   750/- and  ₹ 500/- respectively for standing second and third in the competition.
An interesting  Kavi Sammelan in Hindi was also organized on the occasion anchored by Udit Arora, a student of fifth semester wherein students from all the semesters recited poems written by them. The Kavi Sammelan had both students and faculty participation where Ms. Divyani Redhu, Assistant Professor also recited her two poems on the theme Independence.



Apart from this, a short quiz on oral translation from English to Hindi was conducted by Quiz Master, Mr. Mohit Kishore Vatsa, Assistant Professor. The winners were presented with pens.
On the occasion, Prof. M.B. Julka spoke about the importance of Hindi and its relevance in the media world, and also gave away prizes to the winners including the Academic Excellence Awards 2014-15 wherein student toppers from odd and even semesters were given cash prize money of  ₹ 10,000/- and certificates. The entire event was conducted in Hindi language.


Visit to 21st Delhi Book Fair - September 4, 2015

The students of MBICEM along with the faculty members visited the 21st Delhi Book Fair on
4th September
at Pragati Maidan. It was an informative and knowledge enhancing experience as students got an opportunity to know about books of various genre and also undertook reporting exercise of the event. The students of first year specifically interviewed visitors as part of their assignment, while the students of second year undertook the production of a short radio programme as part of the Radio Production lab exercise. The third year students evaluated the whole event through a questionnaire as part of the Event Management lab.

Guest Lecture on "Importance & Scope of PR in India' - September 2, 2015

A guest lecture was organized in the Institute on " Importance & Scope of PR in India' by Mr. Amit Prabhu, Founding Dean, SCoRe (Schol of Communications & Reputation) on  2nd September  for students of final year.


During the lecture Mr. Parbhu talked about the recent and emerging trends in Public Relations and answered  questions of the students related to the subject. He also shared his experiences of PR industry in India and abroad. The lecture was indeed a learning curve for the students as they got to know various aspects and use of PR. During the event, the expert and author  also gave away copies of his book titled, "Taking PRide", to students which is a collection of his blogs on a variety of topics.

The Photography Club of MBICEM celebrated the 176th World Photography Day on 19th August by showcasing students best photographs and declaring a photography competition open on the theme "Independence".

Celebration of 69th Independence Day 2015

Celebrating the 69th Independence Day, a Just -a- Minute Competition and Quiz Contest were organized in the Institute on 14th August. The topic for the JAM were based on Indian Freedom Struggle and the theme for Quiz was "Independence". In the Declamation Competition Rhythm Sachdeva of Semester V won the first prize, while, Pankaj Rawat of Semester III won the second prize. The third prize was won by Riya Dhingra of Semesters I

All the prize winners were given cash awards alongwith the certificates. Apart from this, a Quiz Contest on the theme "Independence Day" was conducted by Ms. Divyani Redhu, Assistant Professor for which the winner students were also given gifts.

MBICEM Celebrates First International Day of Yoga


The First International Day of Yoga was observed as per the directives of the UGC. The entire staff, faculty members and students participated in the same. Sri Anil Kumar Jha , Yoga expert  conducted the training programme. He not only explained the benefits of yoga but also made the participants perform various asanas which can help to combat stress and improve their physical fitness.

ABOUT THE LIBRARY

The MBICEM Library is an invaluable resource for students, and faculties. Its target is to be the best media library in the entire country. The library has over the years built a good collection of over 8565 books, 11 International Journals, 7 Online Journal, 18 National journals, 19 Magazines and 7 News papers, and many other resources, VIDEO CASSETTES (VHS) (Feature Films, Video Teaching Programmers) AUDIO CASSETTES  (Sound Tracks, Film Songs, Sound Effects) U-MATIC (Medical, Entertainment) Floppy , CDs (Medical, Electronic Media) 155

The Library has Book Bank facility for all students. The Books from the Book Bank are issued for the whole semester and each semester.

Electronic Resource Centre
The library being the member of consortia of Indian Digital Library of Engineering and Technology (INDEST) and Developing Library Network (DELNET) offers various facilities of member institutions through resource sharing. A continuous Internet search is done for identification of new resource which are subsequently made accessible through library home page.

A new concept: Press Kits Exhibition

The students of fourth semester organized a Press Kit exhibition on April 29 at  second floor of the Institute. The exhibition was highly appreciated by Prof. M.B. Julka, Director of MBICEM, Mr. P.K. Bhatnagar, Hony. Secretary, MBICEM Society and all faculty members.

An execution of the knowledge gained based on the industry experience, the Fourth Semester students of BJ(MC) have prepared Dummy Press Kits as a part of their curriculum.

MBICEM's new experiment of Mock Parliament

The students of second semester organized a youth parliament on February 11 at the Institute as a part of their course curriculum. Dressed in whites as politicians, students divided themselves into two groups i.e. The Ruling Party and the Opposition with one student acting as the speaker of  the House. Matters related to Roads, Corruption, Street Vendors Bill were discussed and debated thoroughly in the House. Students were quite vocal and the discussion lasted for more than two hours. The session concluded with snacks served to students. The whole idea behind the exercise was to make students understand the procedure of a bill becoming an Act in the Parliament.
